Chris Christie is back in good graces with President Donald Trump and could be in line for a job in the commander in chief’s administration, Politico reports.
The former New Jersey governor, fired from heading Trump’s transition team two days after the 2016 election, regularly talks with president and could land a "plum job" in the Trump administration, the political news website hears from Republicans close to the White House and people close to Christie.
"Christie has always said there will be a 2.0 to the Trump administration once you get through the first two years. And he’s kept his options open, post-gubernatorial, by not becoming affiliated with any big law firm and by giving speeches and getting a TV contract, which keeps him relevant," one GOP lobbyist told Politico.
And with ongoing shakeups occurring in Trump’s cabinet, there would likely be room for Christie. The White House press office did not respond to Politico’s request for comment.
