Former Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney is in New Jersey to attend a fundraiser in honor of Gov. Chris Christie.
Romney is set to join the potential 2016 hopeful Wednesday evening in East Brunswick for an event celebrating Christie's 52nd birthday.
A spokeswoman for the state party says nearly 1,000 people are expected at the sold-out event, which she says is on track to raise $600,000 for the party.
Christie supported Romney when he ran for president in 2012. Romney has repeatedly insisted he's not pursuing the White House in 2016, but speculation remains.
Christie on Monday dismissed suggestions of a conflict with Romney, saying the two are friends.
The governor's birthday was last Saturday.
