President Donald Trump's re-election campaign has tapped veteran GOP strategist Chris Carr as its political director ahead of the crucial midterm elections, Politico reported Wednesday.
According to Politico, Carr is expected to add both political muscle and organizational skills to coordinate GOP activities, and will work as an intermediary between Trump's political operation and GOP campaign committees and candidates.
Carr's political resume is long and deep, Politico noted. During the 2016 campaign, he served as political director at the Republican National Committee, worked at the RNC in 2012 and at the National Republican Congressional Committee during the 2010 midterms.
"I look forward to supporting the president's mission to expand our GOP majorities in 2018 and begin to plan for the 2020 campaign after November with the rest of the team," Carr said in a statement.
