A political group backed by billionaire financiers Charles and David Koch — seeing areas for agreement with President Donald Trump on tax reform — is reportedly ready to pour millions into a campaign to support overhauling the tax code.
The Koch-funded Americans For Prosperity kicks off its efforts Aug. 2 with an event at the Newseum featuring House Freedom Caucus chair Rep. Mark Meadows, R-NC, Politico reported.
The group plans to host at least three dozen more events in the coming weeks, the outlet reported.
"We're hoping to help them pass what we think is this real transformational reform," AFP's chief operation officer, Sean Lansing, told Politico about the White House initial tax plan.
"As long as they stick to the plan they outlined earlier this year and remain committed to not including a [border adjustment tax], we're going to be very supportive of that plan.”
The campaign will include advertising, canvassing and rallies, in addition to lobbying lawmakers on Capitol Hill, Politico reported.
