Ben Carson and Newt Gingrich will be among the keynote speakers at symposiums on religious liberty and citizenship at the College of the Ozarks, a Christian liberal-arts school in Missouri.
Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, will headline the Pensmore National Symposium on Religious Liberty, sponsored by the Pensmore Foundation and American Family Association, on Oct. 7. Other speakers include Rep. Louie Gohmert, a Texas Republican and Kelly Shackelford, CEO of First Liberty Institute.
The News-Leader newspaper reports that the goal of the symposium is to examine the intent of the nation's Founding Fathers as they assembled the framework for the country. Among the topics will be: Where do our rights come from, God or government?
Gingrich, a former Republican House Speaker and now a political consultant, will speak at the school’s Citizenship Forum on Nov. 1. Details of that event will be released next month.
