Businesswoman Carly Fiorina was widely credited as having the best performance among any of her 16 competitors at the first GOP presidential debates — despite the fact that she wasn't at the big prime time event.
Now,
Washington Post writer Amber Phillips writes, it looks like Fiorina did even better than was believed.
Fiorina may have been relegated to the "kiddie table," where the seven lower-ranked candidates participated at 5 p.m. before no live audience, but her stand-out performance at that low-key event has brought her up in the polls despite the fact she still is second-to-last in name recognition. That, Phillips says, means she still has room to grow.
Further, a Gallup poll showed she gained 20 points in favorability, more than any other candidate.
"If these early numbers are any indication, the sun has started shining on Fiorina," Phillips wrote.
