Investigative reporter Carl Bernstein dubbed Kellyanne Conway, President-elect Donald Trump's former campaign manager, a "propaganda minister" Wednesday on CNN, according to Salon.
The comment came in response to Conway's heated exchange with Anderson Cooper over reports of Russia gathering compromising information on Trump.
Cooper accused incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer of misleading people by conflating the claims made by CNN with the ones made by BuzzFeed. Conway denied that Spicer did anything wrong.
"Do you acknowledge CNN did not release the 35-page unsubstantiated claims against Donald Trump, and it was misleading and untrue for Sean Spicer to suggest otherwise?" Cooper asked, according to The Washington Post.
"No, our incoming press secretary, Sean Spicer, was exactly right, as was the president-elect, Anderson. CNN went first yesterday, and BuzzFeed went second," Conway said.
She added that "the whole headline" was inaccurate.
"Go read the entire story. Four bylines and a story that's just not true that the president-elect was presented with this information that it was appended in a two-page document to the briefing. NBC has said it was not. Other people have said it was not."
"She does it every day, she has been an anonymous source for the last 10 months particularly during this campaign when it suits her," Bernstein said about Conway.
"And it's time to talk about what we do as journalists, and what propaganda ministers do, and that is what she is, a propaganda minister," he said.
