By    |   Wednesday, 05 October 2011 03:45 PM EDT

A top aide to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is leaving that job to start a new super PAC. But counter to some speculation, his aides tell The Hill  that the new PAC won’t be used to promote a vice presidential candidacy for Cantor.

Eric Cantor, Super, PAC, vice, presidnt"The notion that you could run a super PAC to get somebody nominated for vice president, I don't know how you do that," said John Murray, Cantor's deputy chief of staff and the one who is going to the PAC. "That doesn't strike me as something that would be very possible, and that's not what this exercise is about."

Rather, the PAC is designed to continue the "Young Guns" program that helped Republicans win back control of the House in last year’s elections, the aides said. The PAC will support center-right candidates who favor pro-growth, free-market oriented policies.
