President Donald Trump is taking his campaign virtual after he was diagnosed with the coronavirus, Fox News reports.
The Trump campaign announced Friday that Trump’s events are being temporarily postponed or moved to a virtual setting. Trump and first lady Melania Trump, who also tested positive for the virus, are in isolation at the White House residence.
"All previously announced campaign events involving the president’s participation are in the process of being moved to virtual events or are being temporarily postponed," Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien said. "In addition, previously announced events involving members of the first family are also being temporarily postponed."
Stepien said "all other campaign events will be considered on a case-by-case basis and we will make any relevant announcements in the days ahead."
He noted that Vice President Mike Pence has tested negative and will resume his scheduled campaign events. He said any information about the president related to the virus will come from the White House.
The White House said Friday that both the president and the first lady were experiencing "mild symptoms" of the coronavirus, and that the president is working from the residence.
"The president does have mild symptoms, and as we look to try to make sure that not only his health and safety and welfare is good, we continue to look at that for all of the American people," White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told reporters Friday.
Meadows said Trump "continues, not only to be in good spirits, but very energetic."
The first lady tweeted she was experiencing mild symptoms.
"I have mild symptoms but overall feeling good. I am looking forward to a speedy recovery," she wrote.
