President Donald Trump might be taking out his frustrations with FBI special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia probe, Gov. Jerry Brown says.
In remarks to reporters Wednesday after Attorney General Jeff Sessions lauded a new lawsuit targeting the sanctuary state, the California Democrat called the legal action a distraction, Politico reported.
"Let's face it: The Trump White House is under siege," Brown declared, Politico reported. "Mueller is closing in. There are more indictments to come. So, obviously, the attorney general has found it hard just to be a normal attorney general. He's been caught up in the whirlwind of Trumpism."
Brown also compared the lawsuit and Sessions' speech to Russian attempts to meddle in the U.S. election.
"It's about dividing America," Brown said, Politico reported. "There's been a lot of concern about people — foreign people — trying to sow division and discord. Now, we have the attorney general doing precisely that."
