The race between Republican Meg Whitman and Democrat Jerry Brown for California governor remains too close to call, while a new poll indicates that incumbent Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer has a 5-point lead over GOP Senate contender Carly Fiorina, according to CNN’s politicalticker blog.
The new Public Policy Institute poll suggests no candidate is dominating the field in California's two major races, politicalticker noted.
Brown, the former two-term California governor, leads Whitman 37 to 34 percent, which is within the poll's statistical margin of error. A whopping 23 percent of California's voters remain undecided in that race, however, indicating the outcome is very much up for grabs.
In the Senate race, Boxer leads Fiorina, former CEO of Hewlett Packard, 39 to 34 percent. More than 20 percent are undecided in that contest, too, the poll found.
