Republican voters are rallying to Herman Cain in straw polls and on the stump, so the presidential candidate and former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza is asking why the party apparatus has snubbed him, the
Washington Wire blog of the Wall Street Journal reports. blogs. Cain, a political newcomer and black conservative radio talk-show host in Atlanta, also told the Journal that the national media has been as dismissive of his candidacy as the national GOP.

“It has nothing to do with my color,” he said. “I just happen to be outside of the establishment.”
Former Bush adviser Karl Rove questioned whether Cain has a vision for the presidency, and political columnist Charles Krauthammer described Cain as more of an entertainer than a candidate.
Cain, a former Federal Reserve regional bank president, said he took particular offense at Krauthammer’s remark. But Cain expressed confidence that more respectful media coverage will come, and that the political press eventually will take note of the groundswell he is generating.
