Former President George W. Bush will help Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in his re-election bid at a fundraiser next month.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Bush — who has been stumping for down-ballot candidates but not for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump — is slated to headline a fundraiser for Rubio on Oct. 14.

The Post reported a venue has not yet been announced.

Rubio is in the midst of a tight campaign against Democratic Rep. Patrick Murphy. The latest RealClear Politics numbers give Rubio a 4.4 percent lead with two months of campaigning left.

Rubio ran for president against Trump and 15 other Republicans, but he ultimately fell short in his White House bid and suspended his campaign in March.

Rubio's plan was to finish his current Senate term and exit Washington, but he changed his mind in June and announced he would seek to retain his seat in the chamber.
