Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., said Monday that he has opened a congressional office inside a Veterans Administration facility in Florida.
"This is going to be a better path forward to advocate for all of our veterans," Mast said Monday on "Fox & Friends."
Helping veterans is a major part of his workload. "This idea came to fruition because this is the biggest stack of case work that I get," he said.
An office inside a VA facility will help veterans get a "one-stop shop" to get questions answered and other help, Mast said in the interview.
Being on site at a VA facility will provide insight for the lawmaker, he said. "I want to see all the positive things that are going on there, so that I can make sure that they're replicated, and I want to see all the negative things that are going on there immediately, so that we can light a fire under somebody's butt to make sure that it never happens again, and make sure that the problem is fixed right away," Mast said.
The congressman said he hopes that all 435 Congress members will soon open up offices in their districts. Veterans "will know that they are not forgotten," he said.
Mast's congressional office is at the West Palm Beach VA facility, and will open permanently later in January, Mast said in a Monday tweet.
