Rep. Fitzpatrick: Trump Was 'Manipulated By Vladimir Putin'

A Republican legislator and former FBI agent said Sunday that President Donald Trump was "manipulated" by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"The president was manipulated by Vladimir Putin. … Vladimir Putin is a master manipulator," Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Penn., said in an interview on NPR, saying he was "frankly sickened by the exchange."

The congressman also said that "there’s not nearly enough" urgency from the White House, and bemoaned the "mixed signals" coming from the administration.

"It needs to be accepted as fact by everybody in our government because we need to respond to that reality and it’s a significant threat. We cannot let that happen again," Fitzpatrick said.

He added that his constituents are "just confused about what exactly transpired, what message are we sending."
