A Democratic member of the House called the situation surrounding the chamber's Intelligence Committee "an embarrassment."
According to The Hill, Rep. Brendan Boyle of Pennsylvania spoke on the House floor Wednesday.
"This week to me has been an embarrassment," Boyle said. "It's an embarrassment that we here in the House can't have a real, genuine, bipartisan investigation of our Intelligence Committee."
House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes, a California Republican, has come under fire stemming from his secretive visit to the White House complex last week during which he claimed to have seen evidence that showed people close to President Donald Trump had their phone calls intercepted by intelligence agencies around last year's election.
Nunes then brought his findings to Trump himself and spoke to the media on Capitol Hill and at the White House before presenting his findings to his fellow committee members.
Democrats have called on Nunes to recuse himself from the committee's investigation into claims that Russia may have colluded with the Trump campaign. Nunes has refused calls for him to step aside from the probe.
This week, the Intelligence Committee has canceled several meetings it had scheduled in regards to the Russia probe. Nunes said Wednesday that Democrats are not cooperating in the investigation.
Republicans on the committee are standing by Nunes' side.
