Newark Mayor Cory Booker, who is planning a run for Senate, has set up at least eight fundraisers around the nation over the next two months for his “Cory Booker for Senate” committee, according to
Political Party Time blog.
The events start next week with a $5,200 lunch in Manhattan and a $1,000 reception in Newark.
Then come a couple events in Florida. There’s a Fort Lauderdale cocktail party for up to $1,000 and a Palm Beach lunch for $5,200.
The money train then goes to Washington, D.C. for a “Yong Professionals Reception” costing $40 to $100. Then it’s back to Manhattan for a $1,000 cocktail reception.
Next is a $5,000 evening event in Beverly Hills. It’s being held at the house of mega movie producer Jerry Weintraub. The host committee includes movie director Steven Spielberg, actor Bruce Willis, and director Rob Reiner. The next stop is San Francisco.
A poll this week from Farleigh Dickinson University shows Booker with a huge lead over potential Democratic primary opponents in next year’s race to fill the New Jersey seat of Democrat Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who’s retiring.
