Former White House national security adviser John Bolton praised Attorney General William Barr for standing up to President Donald Trump about the lack of evidence, so far, of election fraud.

In an interview with Axios, Bolton said those making claims about a rigged election hadn’t produced evidence ''because they don’t have any.''

"He stood up and did the right thing," Bolton said of Barr. "He told the truth: we don't find any evidence of vote-flipping algorithms, for God's sakes.

"Why can't we see the evidence? Because they don't have any, is the answer. This is the time to speak up," he added.

On Tuesday, Barr told the The Associated Press that Department of Justice investigators had not so far found evidence of fraud on a scale that would overturn the results of the presidential election.

"To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have caused a different outcome in the election," he said.

Bolton has previously urged GOP leaders to speak out.

In an interview with ABC News’ ''This Week'' on Nov. 15, he asserted, "It's critical for other Republican leaders to stand up and explain what actually happened: Donald Trump lost what, by any evidence we have so far, was a free and fair election.''
