House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor are amassing plenty of cash, as they seek to help Republicans maintain control of the House in next year’s election. The two main fundraising committees for the leadership duo raised a combined $230,000 in August,
Politico reports.
Boehner’s Freedom Project drew $62,323, and Cantor’s ERIC PAC garnered $166,705, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission this week.
Boehner and Cantor tend to use different methods to raise their money. Boehner goes to representatives’ districts, gives a talk, and then the money goes directly to the candidate, while Cantor generally writes checks from his political action committee. Both of the two House leaders have other fundraising vehicles through which they can bring in big bucks from heavyweight donors.
