President Donald Trump has surrounded himself by a "tremendously talented Cabinet," and there are "talented folks" inside the administration, but at the same time, the White House needs to get itself organized, Sen. Bob Corker said Thursday.
"We've got tremendous talent over there, people that I really have a great relationship, but thus far, it's not hitting on all eight cylinders," said the Tennessee Republican, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, during an MSNBC "Morning Joe" interview.
"There's so much good that can be done right now," he added.
"We're moving along, pushing China for instance and all of a sudden the subject changes to South Korea paying for its THAAD missiles there," he said. "There needs to be an organizing structure."
Trump's recent congratulatory call to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for a vote that gave him increased powers also affected the United States' allies in the region, said Corker.
"It affects what's happening on the ground in Syria," Corker said. "Again, I just think sometimes there's not enough effort put in place to make sure that this is all aligned in a proper manner."
Corker said he believes many of the instances have occurred because there are still some growing pains, and "I think, I hope that they'll overcome it."
