The Democrats' move to hold a vote on the parameters of the impeachment inquiry means they've been "caught conducting a kangaroo court in (Rep.) Adam Schiff's basement," Sen. Marsha Blackburn said Wednesday.
House Speaker Nancy "Pelosi has finally said, 'oh my goodness, we need to take a vote on something so we're going to have this resolution,'" the Tennessee Republican told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo. "It says, you know, if Adam Schiff wants to call somebody and do it in public, he can, but he doesn't really have to. She is just trying to find a way to now legitimize an investigation. They've basically been doing committee oversight work, and they've been called out. They've been caught."
Blackburn added that Trump's opponents have been saying from the day he got elected they were going to impeach him, and they've been trying votes for three years to make it happen.
"The Mueller report was supposed to do it for him," she said. "It didn't. They said 'oh, we've got a phone call, OK now we need to find some people to put some teeth in this phone call.'"
Blackburn said she also believes the proceedings are going on "partly to muddy up the waters" because there is work going on to zero in on what took place in the origins of the Russia collusion investigation.
"We look forward to receiving those reports," she said. "I can assure you chairman Lindsey Graham is going to be doing it in public, he is not going to be doing it in the basement of the Capitol behind locked doors and leaking out only what he wants somebody to hear or be aware of."
