Liberal TV host Bill Maher sparred with an audience member over President Donald Trump during a CNN program that will air Thursday night.
A man in the audience of "The Messy Truth" asked Maher, a guest on the show, why those in the media and in Hollywood can't give Trump "some slack" and let him be president.
"Because of what he's done and said," an agitated Maher replied.
The audience member responded by saying, "He's been there only three weeks. Give him a break. This is the toughest job on Earth."
Maher then went on an anti-Trump tirade.
"The toughest job on Earth has never been done like this," Maher said. "This is beyond the realm of politics. … it's a giant con what he's done."
Later, Maher added, "This presidency is not about the political part, even three weeks in. It's beyond politics. It's about sanity. It's about somebody who makes stuff up, who doesn't read. His information is either anecdotal or pulled right out of his ... behind.
"That should bother you, sir," Maher said to the audience member who posed the question. "I'm not the crazy one here."
Maher is a fierce critic of Trump and conservative politics. Last month, he said liberals have to do more than just "talking to themselves" if they want to see change happen.
