Bill Clinton Congratulates Jones on Alabama Win

Former President Bill Clinton weighed in on the Alabama Senate election result Tuesday night, calling Democrat Doug Jones' triumph a victory for residents of Alabama.

Jones defeated Republican Roy Moore in the special election that determined who will occupy the seat once held by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Jones is the first Democrat to win an Alabama Senate election since 1990.

Former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden were among the top Democrats who stumped for Jones in some capacity down the stretch of the contentious election that was dogged by sexual misconduct allegations directed at Moore.
