Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., said Thursday that the people of Minnesota and Alabama must decide whether Sen. Al Franken and Senate candidate Roy Moore are suitable for office.
"Again, it's up to the people of Minnesota to decide, but if Al Franken has been involved in this kind of activity as a senator, that's problematic," the Louisiana Republican said on Fox News' "The Brian Kilmeade Show."
Franken has been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, beginning with a radio host who accused him of groping and kissing her without her consent while on a USO tour in the Middle East. Moore, the Republican candidate for Senate in Alabama's upcoming special election, has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women who allege that Moore made inappropriate sexual advances towards them and engaging in nonconsensual touching when they were teenagers and he was in his thirties.
"On the other hand, there is a difference between a 14-year-old girl and an adult female, I will say that," Cassidy added.
The senator also said that despite President Donald Trump's recent endorsement of Moore, his choice to retract his support "still stands."
"Now it's up to the people of Alabama to decide, but on a personal level, I just decided I don't want to be there," he said.
