Joe Biden accused President Donald Trump of “whining and complaining” during an Atlanta campaign appearance Monday for Democratic Georgia Senate runoff candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, saying Trump “doesn’t want to do the work.”
Criticizing Trump for not having a good enough vaccination program against the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, Biden essentially called the president lazy.
“The president spends more time whining and complaining than doing something about the problem,” Biden said. “I don't know why he still wants the job. He doesn't want to do the work.”
Making one of his few public appearances since election day in November, Biden showed up at the rally for Ossoff and Warnock, who are facing incumbent Republicans David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in Tuesday’s election.
Republicans are assured of 50 votes in the U.S. Senate, but victories by both Ossoff and Warnock would result in a split among Republicans and Democrats and enable Kamala Harris, should she be certified as the vice president, the ability to break any tied votes and give control of the chamber to the Democrats.
“By electing Jon and the reverend (Warnock) you can break the gridlock that has gripped Washington and this nation,” Biden said. “With their votes in the Senate we'll be able to make the progress we need to make on jobs, on healthcare, on justice, on so many things.”
