Former CIA Director John Brenna announced his support for Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who is battling Sen. Ted Cruz in the Texas Senate race.
Brennan’s endorsement came in a tweet on Friday morning.
He wrote: “As a former resident of Texas and a proud UT-Austin alumnus, I believe Beto O’Rourke is the type of individual Texans need in the U.S. Senate to represent their best interests. He has the integrity, intellect, and character that is in short supply in Congress. Vote!”
The tweet brought a quick blast from Cruz on Twitter, who responded: “John Brennan — who publicly admitted voting for the Communist Party candidate for president in 1976 — has now endorsed Beto. Brennan led the CIA while we undermined and weakened Israel, strengthened North Korea, ignored ISIS, and gave billions to Iran. Birds of a feather....”
