Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, on Tuesday called on President Donald Trump to take a tougher stance against Iran.
"I have a message for you today, it's a very simple one: We must stop Iran, we will stop Iran," Netanyahu said Tuesday at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee policy conference, NBC News reported.
Trump decertified the Iran nuclear deal in October, and Trump and Congress are working on legislation that could return sanctions against Iran if the country violates the deal's nuclear restrictions, the NBC report said.
"The president has also made it clear that if the fatal flaws of the nuclear deal are not fixed he will walk away … and restore sanctions," Netanyahu said. "Israel will be right there by America's side and, let me tell you, so will other countries in the region," the prime minister added.
Netanyahu also discussed the Palestinian Authority's payments of $350 million a year to terrorists and their families. "I believe President (Mahmoud) Abbas should find better use for his money … build roads, schools, hospitals, and factories. Invest in life, invest in peace," Netanyahu said, The Jerusalem Post reported.
