Here’s one more issue dividing Democrats: West Virginia Democratic Senate candidate Joe Manchin’s (pictured) TV ad in which he literally shoots a hole through a facsimile copy of the cap and trade bill. Party leaders aren’t too happy, with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine saying he isn’t “wild” about it. But outgoing Democrat Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana feels differently, The Hill reports .

joe, manchin, evan bayh"The best commercial I've seen was the governor of West Virginia using a rifle to shoot the cap-and-trade bill," he told CNBC. Asked how the ad would help a Democrat, Bayh, said it will resonate with West Virginia voters, who largely oppose the legislation.

"He's having to do that to differentiate himself in West Virginia," Bayh said.

He has an interesting take on President Obama’s agenda that is now hurting Democrats. "I think he did what he genuinely thought was right, and he was willing to pay a political price for that," Bayh said. "And now the price is being paid."
