Ari Fleischer is returning to politics. The former White House press secretary to President George W. Bush will help spearhead the Republican National Committee’s campaign to fine-tune the party's national themes for next year’s elections, The Hill reports.

Fleischer will direct the Republican National Committee’s "communicators group,"  Communications Director Sean Spicer wrote in an e-mail to GOP heavyweights Sunday.

"As we enter a key presidential cycle at the RNC, we are putting together a group of top-notch communicators inside and outside the Beltway," Spicer's e-mail read.

"I am pleased to announce that former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer has agreed to help lead this group."

Fleischer ran his own sports communications firm after leaving politics in 2003.
