New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed up a Republican strategist to join his administrative team at $160,000 annually.
The Democratic governor appointed Susan Del Percio as a special adviser who will focus on "operations and special projects."
"I am pleased to welcome Susan Del Percio back to public service," Cuomo said on his official
website. "Susan brings years of experience in the public and private sector."
Del Percio previously served in the administration of New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani as deputy commissioner for finance and administration.
She also worked on Republican Joe Lhota's losing campaign for mayor last year, and she worked for ex-Staten Island Congressman Vito Fossella, according to the
New York Post.
Republican analyst Jake Menges praised Cuomo for hiring Del Percio, saying, "It was a brilliant move to take a top rate Republican like Susan off the table."
