CNN Poll: 52 Percent of Americans Oppose Tax Plan

Fifty-two percent of Americans oppose President Donald Trump's tax reform plan, while 34 percent support it, a new CNN poll reveals.

Here are the highlights from the survey released Wednesday:

• 70 percent of Republicans support Trump's tax reform proposals, while 14 percent oppose them.
• 9 percent of Democrats back the plan, while 81 percent oppose it.
• 35 percent of Independents favor the proposals, while 50 percent are against them.
• 24 percent of all those polled say they believe their families would be better off if the proposals are passed by Congress; 31 percent say they will be worse off; and 37 percent say they will be about the same.
• 31 percent say the proposals would improve the economy; 35 percent say economic conditions would worsen; and 27 percent say it would stay the same.
• 67 percent say Trump should release his tax returns, while 24 percent disagree.

The poll, conducted Oct. 12-15, surveyed 1,010 people. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
