Alveda King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., has given the White House a list of nearly 100 inmates she wants President Donald Trump to release, the Washington Examiner reports.
King said she is looking for a "good tidal wave" of clemency from Trump.
Her request came earlier this month after she took part in discussions between Trump and African-American pastors. She left the list of names with the office of presidential adviser Jared Kushner, according to the Examiner.
King, a supporter of Trump, is the leader of the anti-abortion group, Civil Rights for the Unborn. She did not disclose the names on her list.
"I did not, on purpose, count or remember the names, I just submitted the list," King said. "I'm trying to get a good tidal wave, a positive tidal wave, a tidal wave to maybe change things and make things better."
Trump has used his clemency powers nine times since taking office. And earlier this year he had commuted the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson after a plea from reality television star Kim Kardashian. Johnson had been serving time for a non-violent drug offense.
