Not tethered by the time suck of the Russia investigation, Vice President Mike Pence continues his work as chief evangelizer of President Donald Trump's agenda, the Washington Examiner reported.
Pence's latest contribution to Republicans from just this past weekend:
Addressing the National Governors Association about the ills of Obamacare, talking trade with Canada's prime minister, talking up healthcare at the Maverick PAC conference in D.C., and traveling to Missouri to solicit the state's attorney general to take on Democrat Claire McCaskill in the 2018 midterms.
"The fact that Pence is divorced from anything to do with Russia is a great help to the administration, for sure, because he's not bogged down in the investigations that are swirling," Republican strategist Bradley Blakeman told the Examiner.
Plus, Pence has been making the conservative talk-show circuit, talking up Senate Republicans' healthcare plan to repeal Obamacare, as well as being a main conduit to the White House.
"I think his pedigree and experience and relationships make him the perfect point person for the Hill, and I think that was the plan all along, was to have Pence be the legislative point person on all things Hill-related," Blakeman told the Examiner.
