Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on Wednesday warned against applying too much pressure on China over North Korea's nuclear program.
"Something has to be offered to the Chinese to induce them. We can't confront them in a way that forces them to resist us," Schiff said on CNN's "New Day."
The congressman said Sunday, addressing the recent nuclear missile test conducted by Pyongyang, "underscores the heightened importance to getting China to work with us more aggressively to cut off trade to North Korea."
Schiff's comments came on the heels of President Donald Trump's tweets on the subject of China, South Korea and North Korea on Sunday.
Schiff chastised Trump after his tweets on Sunday.
