Even while President Donald Trump continues to fight the results of the November election, he is already being considered a frontrunner for the 2024 race as the Republican National Committee's annual winter meeting approaches.

The RNC will meet on Amelia Island, Florida, on Jan. 6-8. The annual event comes on the same day Congress convenes in what is lining up to be a contentious session for the certification of the Electoral College vote for Joe Biden, reports Fox News.

The reelection of Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and picking vice-chairpersons and other officials will top the agenda, but the gathering also will allow other potential contenders for the 2024 Republican nomination to start building bonds with the committee, activists, and more.

Trump will address the conference on the second day of the meeting, after having hinted at the beginning of December he is looking at another campaign should efforts to overturn the election results from November fail.

Trump has also told his advisers, behind closed doors, he wants to run again and could announce his bid either before or during Biden's inauguration, Fox News has reported.

Several other potential 2024 presidential contenders are also expected to attend the RNC gathering. Vice President Mike Pence and others have been invited, including former U.N. Amb. Nikki Haley, Sens. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Rick Scott, R-Fla., along with Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Kristi Noem of South Dakota.

Trump says he plans to stay involved in GOP politics after leaving the White House. He has already endorsed McDaniel for another term leading the RNC, set up a leadership PAC after the November election.

He has also slammed several Republicans who are up for reelection in 2022 after they either refused his efforts on the election or acknowledging Biden's victory.

The president's approval ratings have stayed high among Republicans, including at 90% in an NPR/PBS/Marist survey in early December. In addition, 71% of people polled by Fox News and 57% in the NPR survey said they want to see Trump run again.
