Monday's Boston Marathon went off without a hitch — proof positive that Beantown is back and refusing to bow to terrorists, says running great Bill Rodgers, who rode in the lead car.
"It was classic Boston," Rodgers, a four-time winner of the Boston Marathon, told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.
"It has to be one of the most spectacular, if not the most spectacular Boston Marathons I've ever been at.
"Following last year's really tough, tough day here in Boston . . .it was time for redemption, and that's what it was," he said Monday.
He was referring to April 15, 2013, when two pressure-cooker bombs exploded during the race, killing three people and injuring more than more 260.

This year, Meb Keflezighi became the first American man to win the event since Greg Meyer in 1983, finishing with a time of 2:08:37.
Rita Jeptoo of Kenya won in the women's category, becoming a three-time winner of the Boston Marathon, with a time of 2:18:57.
"It was just an off-the-charts day. It was kind of the way the New York City Marathon came back last year after the devastation of [Super Storm] Sandy," said Rodgers, who also won the New York race four times.
"I've probably been at 40 Boston Marathons and I've won a marathon on five continents and I've seen the Olympics and everything, but this is something different . . . it was just different, you can't explain it. Everyone's in a great mood; I love seeing that.''
