Hillary Clinton's former law partner says the Democratic presidential frontrunner is on the money when she calls herself a progressive — and not flip-flopping to be more like Sen. Bernie Sanders, who she beat by a whisker in the Iowa primary.
And Webb Hubbell told
Newsmax TV's Steve Malzberg that even though Clinton has changed her mind on issues such as same-sex marriage, nobody wants a rigid leader who is unwilling to evolve.
"I think she is a progressive. Certainly she's a progressive if you compare her against the Republican nominees," Webb Hubbell said Wednesday.
"Circumstances causes to rethink and to change our mind. I would hate to have a president of the United States who is so rigid that they're not willing to change their mind."

Hubbell, who served as assistant attorney general under President Bill Clinton, said he believes next Tuesday's New Hampshire primary will be a squeaker, just like this week's Iowa caucuses, which Hillary Clinton won by a whisker-thin margin over Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont.
"Probably both Bernie and Hillary will come away announcing they won. Just like they did in Iowa and will go on to South Carolina. It's going to be a long fight and that's good for Hillary," Hubbell said.
He said he would advise Clinton's campaign staff to never consider her a shoo-in for the Democratic nomination.
"You take it one game at a time and that's the way you win. She becomes a better candidate if she has a tough opponent," Hubbell said.
Hubbell is author of the thrillers
"Ginger Snaps" and the upcoming
"Game of Inches," both of which feature a sleuthing antitrust lawyer named Jack Patterson.
