Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign will definitely benefit if Vice President Joe Biden throws his hat in the ring, Webb Hubbell, former assistant attorney general and Clinton's onetime law partner, tells
Newsmax TV.
"It would be good for the party, it would be good for Hillary," Hubbell said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"Right now, she's the front runner and there doesn't appear to be anybody who's really capable of taking her on and people don't like front runners. They like the underdog."
"And she runs a better campaign when she's got a tough opponent like Joe Biden would be."
That said, Hubbell said he isn't sure that Biden could defeat the former secretary of state to capture the Democratic presidential nomination.
Hubbell, author of the thriller,
"Ginger Snaps," published by Beaufort Books, said Clinton's ongoing troubles — probes into her use of a email server and the Benghazi attack — will eventually die down.
"It's early in the game and that's the product of her being the front runner. Once she gets some opponents … they're going to help define her, she's going to run harder, and the party benefits from having a tough primary," he said.
"It'll all wash out. It's a long time away and the reality is that it's all a product of her being the not only front runner but kind of [not having] an opponent. Now that she's developing opponents, she's going to be OK."
Hubbell called Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent and only serious challenger to Clinton campaign so far, "a really great senator."
Hubbell isn't concerned with billionaire developer Donald Trump's explosive lead in the Republican polls.
"He's a good reality talk show person … He's a celebrity and people right now aren't focusing on who they'll really vote for for president. They're focusing on the celebrity and enjoying the fun," Hubbell said.
"He'll be a tough debater because he's used to the one liners. He's been on TV a whole bunch, he's used to those quick things that people listen to on a debate. I wouldn't want to debate him, but I don't necessarily think he'll be a good president."
Two Republicans Hubbell believes would be formidable challengers to the Democratic ticket are Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
"They both offer a different perspective and as things play out, those are the two that I'd be concerned about if I were a Democrat," Hubbell said.
