Texas is simply trying to protect itself at the U.S.-Mexico border "when we know for a fact we've seen over 300 people from the terrorist watchlist trying to enter our country" and the Biden administration is suing [Texas], which is "ridiculous," Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, said on Newsmax.
"This is of course a concern," Van Duyne told "Newsline" in reference to a Politico article citing four U.S. officials warning of an increasing risk Lebanese Hezbollah militants will potentially attack inside the United States.
"We went down to the border last week. I mean, the folks who were leading the effort were the first to be able to tell us that as soon as the Biden administration came in, they took away all the tools that were working.
"We know for a fact we've seen over 300 people from the terrorist watchlist have tried to enter our country. God knows how many have actually done it. You see people coming in not just from Mexico, not just from Central America, but from all around the world, but specifically from nations that want to do us harm.
"That has continued to happen and, again, Texas is trying to protect itself. They spent $5 billion last year, they put another $6.53 billion in the budget for this year and what's happening is the federal government is suing them, the Biden administration is suing them. That's ridiculous that they have to be forced to do their job."
Politico earlier this week said one U.S. official warned that "Hezbollah could draw on the capability they have … to put people [in] places to do something," referring to a potential attack on the U.S. "It is something to be worried about."
