The Kurds need more powerful weapons from the United States in order to properly fight the Islamic State in Iraq, according to David Tarfuri, former Rule of Law Coordinator for Iraq at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
"Right now, they are completely outgunned by ISIS … The U.S. government is facilitating the delivery of some weapons, but it's mostly light weapons," Tarfuri said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.

"Not really what they need to confront the heavily armored vehicles that ISIS has."
Tarfuri, a partner at the international law firm of Patton Boggs, said ground troops are needed to battle the terror group, which has been slaughtering Christians and has beheaded two American journalists.
"We need to have a fighting force on the ground that can equal the ISIS fighters in terms of fire power. That's the only way we're going to contain them" he said.
"The goal should be not just to contain them, but to defeat them."
