Rep. Steve King, appearing on Newsmax TV’s "Steve Malzberg Show" on Tuesday, clarified his comment that Hillary Clinton "is somebody I can work with," telling Malzberg it "probably won't ever happen."
"I didn't want to declare war on Hillary if she becomes president of the United States," the Iowa Republican admitted to the host. "We have to do things reasonable to get the best things that we can for our country."

The comment that raised eyebrows of the Trump supporters seemed to either suggest Clinton will win the election or the Iowa Republican supports the Democratic presidential nominee.
"I've sat across the table with Hillary Clinton eye-to-eye, and when you're working outside of staff and outside of the press she is somebody I can work with," King said last week in a pro-Trump speech at the Iowa State Fair.
King expounded on the comment to Malzberg, referring to a hypothetical bipartisan situation where he could sit down with Clinton "across the table when there's no staff and no press and no spectators, just two on that side and four on our side — compelled by law, by the way."
King stressed that means he is no way supports Clinton’s presidential bid.
"Now that doesn't translate into convincing her that she should be a Constitution-following, law abiding conservative," he told Malzberg. "It just means that she understands policy and you can talk policy with her in a setting like that, which probably won't ever happen."
