President Donald Trump is unlikely to face any charges stemming for the federal investigation into whether his campaign colluded with Russia in interfering with the 2016 presidential election, a former top Justice Department official told Newsmax TV on Friday
"I don't think the president is likely to stand charges at all. There is a longstanding Justice Department memo that the president cannot be indicted while he is in office, no president can," Sidney Powell, who served an assistant U.S. attorney for 10 years, said to Miranda Khan, John Cardillo and Gina Loudon on Newsmax's "America Talks Live."
"So [special counsel Robert Mueller] would have to defy longstanding Justice Department policy and practice to do that. It would be absolutely outrageous. I think what he's been trying to do is build a case for impeachment of the president, but I don't think that's going to work either."

Powell believes an upcoming report from the Department of Justice's inspector general about the investigation will be a bombshell.
"That is going to be bone-chilling I think and will probably provide fodder for motions to dismiss all charges brought by Mueller against anyone for egregious government misconduct," she said.
"I think that's what we're going to be watching for. We've already got a motion from [former Trump campaign manager Paul] Manafort's group for all of the leaks and abuses that have occurred in that process … The entire investigation is appalling
Powell, whose career at the Justice Department spanned in nine U.S. Attorneys from both political parties, is the author of "Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice," published by Brown Books.
