President Donald Trump should bring his "drain the swamp" pledge to the Department of Justice and clean house there, former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell tells Newsmax TV.
During an appearance on "The Steve Malzberg Show," Powell said Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have some work ahead of them to root out Obama-era people in the cabinet department.
"The swamp that has to be drained exists at DOJ, too," said Powell, author of "Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice."

"There are a number of prosecutors there that were Obama stalwarts and I think still pushing his agenda. I feel like he's behind an awful lot of this that's going on right now. As soon as he voiced his disapproval of the immigration order, [former acting Attorney General] Sally Yates says she's not going to enforce it."
Trump fired Yates after she refused to enforce his immigration directive, an executive order that has since been stopped by the courts.
Powell said the DOJ needs to do its job and enforce federal immigration laws.
"The immigration laws need to be enforced. I'm sure that's going to happen, that will be a refreshing change, but all the laws across the board need to be equally enforced against people," she said. "I mean if they're going to prosecute one person for tax evasion of $100,000, they ought to prosecute other people for it, too."
