President Donald Trump's State of the Union address was unique Tuesday night in that he was able to boast how he succeeded where his predecessors have failed, according to former White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
"What he does really interesting, throughout the speech, is he contrasts himself with previous administrations," Spicer told Newsmax host John Bachman.
Spicer noted how Trump can boast how 60,000 factories were lost during former President Barack Obama and George W. Bush's administrations, but American has gained 12,000 new factories under Trump.
"Many politicians came pledging to change NAFTA, only to do absolutely nothing," Spicer said. "'But unlike those who came before me, I keep my promises.'"
Spicer lauded Trump laying out what he has done, but also how he contrasts it with what others "didn't accomplish."
"That's something I haven't really seen – in the sense I'm seeing it now – in previous State of the Union speeches," Spicer concluded.
