President Donald Trump's tax reform plan will not survive as is, his former political adviser Sam Nunberg told Newsmax TV.
Trump's plan has some serious flaws that need fixing, Nunberg told host Bill Tucker on Wednesday's "Newsmax Now."
"That's not going to survive; there's not a chance," he said. "I don't know if you agree with me, there's not a chance he will ever pass a tax plan where the state and local deductions are not kept. It's just not."
Trump spoke in Indianapolis Wednesday afternoon and said his tax reform plan would "deliver historic tax relief to the American people."
Nunberg said the questions about how much the new tax system, which would cut the number of tax brackets from seven to three, would affect the national debt need to be answered.
"What we saw was adding $1.5 trillion over 10 years, so basically $150 billion they would add for the tax cut," Nunberg said. "I don't know what kind of tax cut that's going to end up being at $150 billion, but we'll find out."

Nunberg noted he heard the highest of the three income tax brackets would be for Americans earning $750,000 a year or more.
"Remember the president is a populist; he's a nationalist," he said. "And this is populism, and this is nationalism, and this is where Republicans and Democrats [work together]."
