GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's meeting with black ministers went well, where the mogul listened and "heard things … he hadn't heard before," Ray Negron told Newsmax TV.

The famed New York Yankees consultant, actor and author of  "CC Claus: A Baseball Christmas Story," attended the meeting and was impressed with Trump. Negron noted that many "good questions were asked" by the ministers.

"He listened, he was going around the room to all the different individuals who were there, there were probably about 100 people in that room," Negron said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"He heard things that in essence he hadn't heard before … it's the aspect of some of the pastors going real deep and saying, 'This is what's going on.' I enjoyed the aspect of him just laying back and just looking at the guy in the eye and understanding."

Negron said he was especially interested to hear from Trump and the ministers because "this is the worst time in the country's history, as far as I'm concerned."

"I'm a father of four, one is a police officer; I'm scared. So I want to know what the heck is going on and how can we make this thing better," he said.

Although he hasn't gone as far as endorsing the candidate, Negron said about Trump, "I have seen nothing but the aspect of the good that he can do."

Negron is also involved in a television project with Steven Van Zandt, an actor and guitarist for the E Street Band, who is writing, producing, and directing a television pilot based on Negron's life, "Tio Papi."

"I want something that's going to, in essence, entice and be good and feel good and at the same time, no BS. Let's tell stories," Negron said of the show. "I'm excited to see what he's going to do."
