Ralph Peters: Expect 'Jekyll-Hyde Effect' on DC

By    |   Wednesday, 05 November 2014 02:04 PM EST

The Republican takeover of the Senate will have a "Jekyll/Hyde effect" on Capitol Hill policy-making, retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Ralph Peters said on Newsmax TV.

"What we witnessed last night was the American people saying, 'OK, we've had enough,' but we can't give this guy the benefit of the doubt, we elected him, the media re-elected him and enough is enough," Peters said Wednesday on the "Steve Malzberg Show."

"You're going to see a Jekyll and Hyde effect — a dichotomy — here in the sense that this change in Congress and Republicans taking control of the Senate will have a powerful, powerful effect on domestic policy," Peters said.

"Remember, Obama is still commander-in-chief. Congress, although it has a strong voice, has a less direct/immediate power in foreign policy and security policy. It's fascinating to me to see if Obama can be moved to protect our country."
