Special counsel Robert Hur's decision not to charge President Joe Biden with a crime in connection with the possession of classified documents, citing his age and cognitive abilities as a factor shows a "two-tiered system of justice," Rep. Ralph Norman said Saturday on Newsmax.
Further, Hur's findings reflect what Americans have been seeing for a long time about Biden's age, the South Carolina Republican told Newsmax's "America Right Now."
"It's a scary time for Americans and for the country in general, because others see weakness and are going to take advantage of it," Norman said.
The report, in explaining why Biden was not being charged, stated that jurors would be seeing an "elderly" man with memory issues, which has led to calls to invoke the 25th Amendment, which outlines the provisions that would take place should a president be unable to fulfill the duties of his or her position.
Norman pointed out that it would take agreement from Vice President Kamala Harris and members of the Cabinet to vote on invoking the amendment, "so the odds of getting him out are slim … they're not going to vote agains the person who put them in."
Norman also discussed the Senate's voting down of the bipartisan border bill, and said that rather than more legislation, the nation needs a president who "will enforce what's already on the books."
When Biden took office, he stopped the Trump-era remain-in-Mexico policy and wall construction and "started letting everybody from every country come into America," said Norman.
"The agents are not allowed to do the job that they should be doing so this administration just isn't going to enforce it," he said.
House Republicans last week were also dealt a blow when four Republicans voted with Democrats against impeaching Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, but Norman said the vote doesn't end the matter.
He added that House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, who missed the last vote because he is away undergoing cancer treatments will be flown in to vote, which will "give us a one-seat, one-vote" win.
"Mayorkas does need to go," said Norman. "He is not enforcing the laws that are on the books. He is violating the oath that we all signed to protect and defend America, so he needs to go. I think it will happen. I think we need to make sure we've got the votes before it comes to the floor, and I think Speaker [Mike] Johnson will do that."
