Rabbi Steven Burg told Newsmax on Wednesday the start of Passover this year has special meaning for the people of Iran.
On "American Agenda," Burg said there are parallels between God leading the slaves out of Egypt to freedom, and the U.S. conflict with Iran that he said creates a future for the oppressed in Iran to anticipate that "freedom is coming."
Burg said the Jewish holiday of Passover reflects on the emancipation of Israelite slaves from the tyranny of Egypt in biblical times. Iranians, he said, can have faith they will also be freed.
"They're an amazing people, and their leadership is absolutely horrendous. They've tortured them, they've killed them all the years, they've oppressed them," he said.
"And so my message to the Iranian people would be, Freedom is coming."
The rabbi predicted that the joint U.S.-Israeli military strikes against the radical Islamist regime in Iran will achieve the goal of ending the regime.
"The United States and Israel are democracies. They're strong democracies.
"We understand what it means to be free. We understand what it is to have rights. And we're going to see this through to the end," he said.
Burg said even though centuries have passed since the Israelite slaves were freed, the story of Passover is timeless: "It was the first time where slaves were able to overthrow their oppressor.
"It was a time where the world learned about freedom around the world and understood that just because tyrants were in charge, didn't mean they need to stay in charge."
He said Passover helped establish the U.S. as a free nation.
"God literally led the people out of Egypt to Israel," he said. 'So, it's a story that has inspired generations and generations of people to crawl for freedom and, frankly, inspired the United States of America, the creation of the United States of America, and continues to inspire all of us."
Even amid rising antisemitic attacks and political rhetoric, Burg said that is not enough to prevent God's will from improving the lives of people around the world.
"In the end, good always triumphs against evil. God has got our back," he said.
