The Islamic State has lost patches of territory and has been degraded "around the edges" by U.S. airstrikes combined with local ground forces, but remains entrenched in Syria and Iraq and still poses a serious threat to other countries, LIGNET intelligence analyst Lisa Ruth told "MidPoint" host Ed Berliner on
Newsmax TV on Tuesday.
Ruth, formerly with the CIA, also discussed persistent questions about Saudi Arabia's role in global terrorism, thorny U.S. relationships with supposed allies in the Middle East — including the Saudis — and the prospect of another bloody uprising against Israel conducted by the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
